The fifth month on the Jewish calendar (11th in the Biblical count) - is called SHVAT

The month of Shvat is also the month in which we celebrate the New Year for the Trees, TU BISHVAT(15 days in the month of Shvat. TU/טו - tet vav, tet=9 plus vav=6).

TU BISHVAT marks the season when the earliest-blooming trees in the Land of Israel wake up from their winter sleep and begin their new fruit-bearing cycle.
It is customary to eat fruit during this day, especially the Land of Israel's seven species (shiv-at ha-minim), listed in the Bible; grapes, figs, pomegranates, olives, and dates. (The other two species are wheat and barley).
